Stainless steel Sculptures

Stainless steel is a very versatile material and has many uses including pipe-work, tanks, ornamental staircases and balustrades. Stainless steel is also commonly used for sculptures and works of art that can take pride of place in interior or exterior environments.

Stainless steel sculptures are commonly found in large grand buildings in entrance halls or smaller pieces of art can take pride of place in any home. Stainless steel sculptures also take pride of place in large ornamental gardens, large parks and national gardens.

Stainless steel sculptures are simply works of art that are created and lovingly built by artists in their field. The materials are first sourced and then working closely with the home owner or whoever is responsible for the artwork, design will begin and the sculpture built and put together.

In fact there really is no limit to where stainless steel sculptures can be erected and many of them are designed and built for the top of important buildings, museums and schools.

Artists will gather as much information as they can during the design process and work closely with the home owner or the person responsible for the sculpture. Once a general concept has been established, the artist will begin to sketch out various designs and ideas.  Whilst drawing and playing with design ideas, the materials will be sourced, the type of materials you choose will largely depend on the budget you have and some materials will be more costly than others.

Stainless steel is a common material to use because of its versatility and durability and often artists will select stainless steel as their main material and of course there are different looks that can be established with different finishes.

On average, the base of the sculpture will be worked on first by drawing out chalk lines on the area where the sculpture is to be erected.  The sculpture will be built from the base up and very often pieces of cardboard are used in order to establish measurements and positions of the stainless steel pieces.

The pieces of the sculpture will almost certainly be welded into place and then the finish of the sculpture will be worked on. There are various finished available and it really depends on the look and style of the sculpture as to which one you will choose.  Sculptures can have a rust or gild finish and can also be painted to give extra effect.
