Throw a Great Theme Party!

If you want to have a party and make it an event that everyone will remember, throw a great theme party.  A theme party can be held for just about any event, including a wedding reception, birthday, anniversary or just a holiday party.  Having a central theme to the party can help pull together all of the party details and provide your guests with an opportunity to dress up and perhaps get into character?  Theme parties that are put together well will leave a lasting impression to the partygoers.  There are several steps to holding a great theme party.

1 – Pick Your Theme

You can't very well have a themed party without first deciding what your theme will be.  Are you throwing a birthday party and the guest of honor has a favorite movie or television show?  This would make a great themed party.  Before you decide what to do, please consider the person that is to be honored, if it is for a special event, and not to just have a party for fun.  Going to the expense of holding a party means that you will want to make it mean something special to the intended recipient.

2-Set a Budget

Throwing a themed party can be quite expensive, so have a detailed budget in mind for everything from the venue, food and drink and décor.  Also factor in music, whether it is a CD player, band or DJ.  The most important things to consider are the food and the décor.  These two things appear to be the key to the success of any event.  If the décor doesn't fit the theme and the food is horrible, the party is doomed.  If details are adding up, consider getting a few friends or family members to chip in to defray the costs.

3-Take the First Step

After you decide on the location for your event, you need to make people interested enough to attend.  You have to grab the attention of the person invited and this begins with the invitation to the event.  In our fast paced world today, some individuals are choosing to elite people through texts, emails and twitters.  Still others may use social media to reach people.  While this is certainly a simpler way to get a hold of people, the effect falls flat.  A good old fashioned invitation that really packs a punch will get the attention of the person invited.  If you are throwing a luau party, a silk lei with details attached would make a great idea.

4 – The Arrival

When partygoers arrive, it is a great idea to give them a party agenda, that lets me know where items are located, what type of games or activities will be held and any other pertinent details, such as the menu, etc.  It is important that any one helping plan the themed event know what is to go on throughout the evening.  The last thing you want is for the party to hit a lull and become a bore.  If you follow these basic steps you will be able to throw a great theme party.
